Shirt length is measured from the base of the neck down to where you would like the shirt to end.

For most men this is about an inch from the bottom of the rear. If you would like grab a well fitting shirt from your closet as a reference. Here are the average lengths for dress shirts— S-30, M-31, L-32, XL-33
